I can't reply with absolute certainty, as we had problems with our ISDN
line when I was trying this via USB (we are currently using serial).

Use the usbserial module, for example, do:

# modprobe usbserial

Then, use on of the /dev/usb/tts/ devices as the port to connect to.
(running dmesg might be useful to see which device).

I am sure there must be a way to have the module loaded at boot (a hack
might be to set VISOR=1 in /etc/sysconfig/usb, otherwise using an alias
in /etc/modules.conf).

Please set your mail client (Microsoft Outlook CWS, Build 9.0.2416
(9.0.2911.0)) not to add 24.1kb of attachments to every mail you send,
just to put pretty pictures in your sig. ASCII art looks much better,
and doesn't mess with webmail, list digests and text-mode clients, and
doesn't waste bandwidth unnecessarily (a 24.1kb sig would be quite long!).

I have recently 
installed a USB Terminal Adaptor (which is the way British Telecom now supply 
their hardware). I use Linux Mandrake 8.2, which happily detects my scanner, but 
not the TA.
 
Does anyone have any 
clues about how to install a USB Terminal Adapter under Linux, as I have looked 
high and low and can't find a HOWTO or similar
