No, It will probably be moved to contribs (or never dropped at all by
Mandrake) or your card will get 4.x support. You can always get the source to
3.x and compile it yourself if ti comes to that.

Or get a new video card. 8)

So I'll have to go back to Windows or buy new video cards?

RedHat is planning on dropping it. It's likely that Mandrake will follow
suit, but then again, kitchen_sink-1.0-1mdk is in contribs. 8)

and what makes you say that?. IMO 3.3.6 shouldn't be dropped until 4.x has
the same support for ALL cards as 3.3.6.

Pretty soon, version 3.3.6 will be dropped, so no point in changing ,
really.

[Cooker] XFree86 and anti-aliasing fonts

2001-08-25 Thread SI Reasoning

There is a message when configuring X in expert mode
telling which of your XFree86 driver packages supports
3D Hardware acceleration. I think there should be the
same for anti-aliased fonts.

Example:
XFree 3.3.6 with 3D hardware acceleration
XFree 4.1.0 (use if want anti-aliased fonts w/KDE2)
XFree 3.3.6

I also think that this choice should be available even
in non-expert mode. A simple help file could explain
this to newbies with recommendations.
