 Now that 7.2 has branched from cooker where
 would one dl the latest 7.2rc1, every place I
 go seems to have the gcc2.96 which we know now
 isn't in 7.2 but only cooker.

All the "good" mirrors have two trees:

Mandrake-devel/7.2beta/
Mandrake-devel/cooker/

/7.2beta/ is of course what is soon to be released
as 7.2.  This is where gcc 2.95 is.

/cooker/ is where Mandrake is working on packages
for 7.3/8.0/whatever the future version is.  This
is where gcc 2.96 is.

Look in the appropriate tree.

Now that 7.2 has branched from cooker where would one dl the latest 7.2rc1,

The dir 7.2 beta might be a good place to look, eg:
rsync://sunsite.uio.no:873:/Mandrake-devel/7.2beta/i586/Mandrake/
