As for dabusb, it might also be a nice idea to package up the apps that
come with the dvb package.

Fully agree :)

[Cooker] dvb drivers in kernel source package need updating

2002-12-30 Thread Bruno Prior
The DVB drivers under 3rdparty/mod_dvb in the latest Cooker kernel
source package are out-of-date, and will not work with more recent
version of the apps available for these cards. They have changed the API
since this old version of the drivers. It would be good to update them
with the latest drivers from http://www.linuxdvb.tv/download/. A recent
CVS snapshot is currently recommended by the author and compiled fine
for me (20021229), but if it needs an official release, apparently there
is one coming soon.

This should be pretty easy, as the package includes tools to help modify
the config files and place the modules into drivers/media/video. The
trouble is, this is presumably intended for vanilla kernel source, and
obviously does not allow for an old version of the driver already being
in a different place in the source. If whoever added these old drivers
into 3rdparty could reverse them out of the source quite easily, it
should then be pretty easy to add more recent drivers in using the tools
provided.

As for dabusb, it might also be a nice idea to package up the apps that
come with the dvb package.

Cheers,

Bruno Prior
