kde3 rpms are far from pefect, and the kde team is working on bug fixing kde2
for the next MandrakeLinux release.. beta software are beta software :)

it seems it is a kde3 related pb, not libpng (apart PyQt that i am currently
trying to fix.. harder that simply a simple rebuild..)

i started kde from login at the console in my user, then entering kde3.

don't forget that kde3beta2 should play in .kde3 directory, not .kde !
some scripts in the menu RPM seem to ignore that and still use .kde

kde3 beta2 : was OK at the first annoncement with initial RPMs
I updated to contrib new rpms yesterday and lots of applications complains now
either crashing or missing icons.

all kdepim3 rpm applications are bad
kmix, kalarm, knotes have no icons in the tray
some icons from kmail are missing (the icon to get a proportional font in the
main toolbar for example)

[root@bastard dev]# urpmf --requires libpng.so.2
PyQt:requires:libpng.so.2

there's also :
python-imaging:requires:libpng >= 1.0.1
not enough to my mind

[Cooker] how to stop these recurrent libpng problems !!!

2002-02-19 Thread pascal

We have regularly this kind of problems under KDE, with updates ...

libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.0.12
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.2.1
libpng error: Incompatible libpng version in application and library

Developpers please, can you switch once for all to libpng3 for compiling ? or
is there still some problem with that ?
