Hi, if I try to update the initscript-rpm I get following errors: [root@mumpel RPMS]# rpm -Fvh initscripts-5.27-12mdk.i586.rpm warning: /etc/X11/prefdm created as /etc/X11/prefdm.rpmnew initscripts ##unpacking of archive failed on file /etc/init. d: cpio: unlink the same for the newest: [root@mumpel RPMS]# rpm -Fvh initscripts-5.27-15mdk.i586.rpm warning: /etc/X11/prefdm created as /etc/X11/prefdm.rpmnew initscripts ##unpacking of archive failed on file /etc/init. d: cpio: unlink No way to install ! Yes. I had this problem, because I had a directory "/etc/init.d". It seems to bomb out on symbolic links, though that never used to be a problem. John

hrmmm I've been pondering this for a while why the init scripts aren't linux 2.4.x compat. What I mean by that is, is that well take my init scripts for example. I have to load some modules earlier than the current modules are loaded. Specifically my module for eth0 and vfat. I load these through rc.sysinit, but is there anyway to hack the init scripts around to be compat with 2.2.x and 2.4.x ? #1 When 2.4.x stable is released you'll be pretty ready : ) #2 people using mandrake won't have to guess why they're getting a wrong major or minor error when loading their fat file systems at boot or a delay in init for bringing up their network IF. -- Bryan Paxton Go to the room with the chair and wait for your life...
