Re: [Cooker] install from hd doesn't work

My download was the wrong size, because I downloaded the cooker dir
instead of the 7.beta dir. (Q:what is the 450MB cooker dir used for
then?)

After downloading the correct files, I tried an install from hd. No
mounting problems anymore!

There were some other problems though:

- tiny bug: when selecting the percentage of packages that you want to
install, you can select 101% if you use the + and - next to the
percentage. the + and - below the percentage are OK.

- Shouldn't there be an option to install everything (all packages)?

- my 3COM 3c900B-TPO ethernet card was correctly identified, but after
selecting NO to the question if I have more network cards, the 3COM is
recognised again! After selecting NO this time everything goes OK. The
card did install OK, because I could reach the internet from the
desktop.

- Perhaps the differences between LILO and Grub can be pointed out on
the bootloader-screen (I don't know them, I always use LILO).

- My Microsoft Keyboard Pro is not recognised according to DrakConf even
though it seems to work fine. The only problem is that on booting and
shutting down, I get the error that there are too many KNACKS in the
cable? When I use the PS/2 plug instead of the USB plug, I do not get
this error.

- When I enter the desktop the first time after install, my soundcard
(SB 1024 Live!) is not working. Configuring in DrakConf results in an
error as well as configuring in sndconfig. But when I boot the second
time (or any time after that) sound is working fine! After adding in the
"+notify" even the KDE-sounds worked.

- I have two CDROM-drives in my machine:
   - Creative 52X (CD5230E) (IDE)
   - Plexwriter 8/4/32A (IDE)
The Creative drive is working fine. The Plextor is working OK, but it
is not configured properly. In DrakConf it appears twice, once as an IDE
with an unidentified vendor and once as a SCSI (which I don't have in my
machine) with the vender Plextor.

- A big problem is that when I reboot from linux (Reboot-command in
XWindows), LILO loads, but when I select linux I get a CRC-error and my
machine comes to a full stop. When I do a cold reboot then, linux loads
fine again...until I do a reboot.

[Cooker] install from hd doesn't work

2000-10-21 Thread Luis Manuel de Vries

Hi,

This morning I downloaded the latest version of cooker from one of the
mirrors.
I created a bootdisk (hd.img) and ran the install. But after selecting
the partitions, I got an error. The setup is trying to mount the
partition containing the cooker-dir. But this partition is already
mounted!

Another question I have is about the size. The mirror is around 450 MB.
The beta 7.2 of Linux Mandrake was 2 CD's. What files are missing and
where can I find them?

Thanks,

Manuel

When you do a hd install don't choose a mount point for the drive that the
image is on.. After install then move the mount to where you want..
