[Cooker] kcontrol/menu inconsistency

My friend sitting next to me get's the panel selections found in
/usr/share/applnk while mine seems to be the ones in applnk-mdk which should
it be and what's the best way to go about changing which set it uses?

We've updated our's in different sequences but are both up to date.

Because mine is pulling from the ones in applnk-mdk I also don't get the
mosfet control option while he does - not that it matters much to me know
since I no longer use that one.

I've had this error for quite some time:
kcontrol: WARNING: No K menu group with X-KDE-BaseGroup=settings found !

Of course I can copy the settings folder from /usr/share/applnk to
usr/share/applnk-mdk to get the menu back but this is not what I should be
doing. How do I get the K menu group that is required to get my kcontrol
 working properly again.
When does the X-KDE-BaseGroup setting get created and how can I recreate it.
I've all ready installed all the latest KDE packages ...

 rpm -qa | grep menu

 rpm -qa | grep kde

 ?

 Thanks in advance.

rpm -qa | grep menu gives:

menudrake-0.6.1-4mdk
menusupport-redhat-2000.06.20.12.00-1
menu-2.1.5-51mdk

rpm -qa | grep kde gives:

kdesupport-devel-2.1.1-2mdk
kdetoys-2.1.1-2mdk
kde1-compat-1.1.2-8mdk
kdesupport-2.1.1-2mdk

Everything appears to be up to date and normal to me. What have I missed?
