Hi, When I updated my kernel to the 2.4.20-2mdk version, my network did'nt work anymore. It could'nt get a dhcp ip adres, nor can I ping to other computers if I set a manual adres. I have a ISA 3Com Etherlink III 3C509B which works fine in Knoppix 3.1 with 2.4.20 kernel (same 3c5x9 driver of 16Oct2002). On another computer whith +- same configuration & 2.4.20-2mdk kernel there is no problem (other nic).
some information : when booted with 2.4.20-2mdk kernel : dmesg output (apart from the version, this is the same as in 2.4.19) eth0: 3c5x9 at 0x210, 10baseT port, address 00 60 97 bd 22 52, IRQ 10. 3c509.c:1.19 16Oct2002 [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.scyld.com/network/3c509.html eth0: Setting 3c5x9/3c5x9B half-duplex mode if_port: 0, sw_info: 3f21 eth0: Setting Rx mode to 1 addresses. /sbin/ifup eth0 Determining IP information for eth0... failed. ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:60:97:BD:22:52 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:7 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:2394 (2.3 Kb) Interrupt:10 Base address:0x210 system = Mdk 9 based, Asus P5A mb net-tools-1.60-5mdk iptables-1.2.7a-1mdk initscripts-6.91-18mdk iputils-20020927-1mdk iproute2-2.4.7-7mdk dhcp-common-3.0-1rc10.3mdk dhcpcd-1.3.22pl3-1mdk dhcp-client-3.0-1rc10.3mdk greetings, Dominique De Munck
