I guess that the problem is in Mdk. I have two other 'linking' pbs my ISA sound via SB can only give Linus to say "Hallo" and then it is clipped and my printer is dead too. regards guran -- Mandrake Linux Cooker 9.1 kernel-2.4.21.0.pre4.3mdk-1-1mdk Only in a society that has 'a priori' defined what is true can the evolution of life be defined false.

It happens whenever you run anything in an mc shell on a console. Go to a VT and start mc, then hit enter over any shell script in mc, or ctrl-o and do a cat on any file, ctrl-o and you get a segfault. Rebuilding mc doesn't help. The problem started around the time cooker introduced glibc-2.3 but the problem may not be related to that. The newer mc-4.6 doesn't show this behaviour but, last time I checked, no one had a decent src.rpm where I could get some "ideas" for packaging. They all basically threw in the 4.6 sources and disabled all patches. This makes mc work on a console but yields other problem when run in an X terminal emulator. - Mark

I had a similar experience yesterday with MC and building the nvidia rpms in Console. The build would complete, press any key to continue and MC segfaults I am using mc-4.6.0pre3-2 that I built as an rpm with my own spec. [Cooker] mc - segmentation fault when inst NVIDIA
Hi Hd.img installation: Mandrake Linux Cooker-i586 20030206 9:49 /ChangeLog/1.778/Tue Feb 4 20:59:57 2003// [root@localhost tmp]# rpm -qa mc mc-4.5.55-10mdk I don't use dm and after installation I start with installation of my NVIDIA driver in mc. After giving tar xvfz NVIDIA-k*, it is correctly opened and I get "press a key to cintinue" or similar. When I do that I get segmentation fault. MC is killed and I am back to ~/guran but my operation started in ~/guran/tmp. When in the new directory NVIDIA-kernel* and I order "make" the same thing happens. But when I now do the same thing in KDE, everything is fine, and to my knowledge mc is functioning flawlessly afterwards even in console. regards guran -- Mandrake Linux Cooker 9.1 kernel-2.4.21.0.pre4.3mdk-1-1mdk Only in a society that has 'a priori' defined what is true can the evolution of life be defined false.
