I noticed that my ide-scsi /mnt/XXX are locked and get inode/directory
locked error message. haven't been able to unlock them yet, used chmod
to no availe

I think the problem may be something else. Although this should be on the 
expert list, not cooker.

I am guessing you have supermount or some other automounting stuff turned on?
I don't, and I don't have that problem at all.

Just tested this and mine seems fine. I could see and drill down into the 
devices, although it did open up the file manager for the cdrom.

Has any one else encountered this problem? When you browse to the /mnt
