it happens sometimes :-/

selects aspell-br, and locales-br even though those
 weren't in my package disk.

will get fixed one day...

And a question for you Pixel:
when this installation gets done, would it be useful
for me to look over the logs and report anything
 interesting?

hard to tell :)

Really!? As of a week ago I still get it every time,
no matter which installation method. When the gcc 3.2
related rebuilds are done (hopefully someone will say
something) I will upgrade and let you know if it still happens.

I got my hands on another machine, and it still
reports VERSION file missing (right after probing
serial ports) on current Cooker.

A few other notes:
- the new picture that boots from the network boot
image is beautiful!

I just finished installing with DrakX. I deleted my /home and / in
order to resize them both. I pushed done and rebooted. I then renamed
all my partitions:
/mnt/dos_C
/mnt/dos_D
/boot
/archive (this was used for install)
/swap
/home
/

When it came to formating, I chose ONLY /boot, /home and /.
Unfortunately, it formated my Windows partition and I had to
re-install. I DID NOT choose my two FAT32 for formatting

fixed. it'was a transition.

Screen updates were abysmally slow, about 30 seconds to redraw.

ouch! maybe the new version (uploaded yesterday) may behave better...

X configuration failed to recognize my graphics card (Trident 975) and gave
me the fb kernel. Graphics resolution was limited to 640x480. Then it
erred out saying it couldn't find the fb kernel. It was installed though, I
looked. The X configuration did work fine for me with the previous versions
 of DrakX.

fixed.

Here's the errors I got on the various virtual terminals:

 F1 Errors:
   Couldn't open RGB_DB '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb'
   Error opening security policy file
 /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy
GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to: No such user 0.
   Gdk-WARNING **: shmget failed! at
 /usr/bin/perl-install/install_steps_graphical.pm line 737.

no (or known) problemo

 F2 Errors:
zsh: failed to load module: comp1

no (or known) problem

 F3 Errors:
Hard to catch as one line seemed to be getting executed repeatedly.
Possibly that line is the reason the screens take so long to redraw. The
 line is:

   * running: cd /usr/bin/perl-install/po ; bzip2 -c
 /usr/bin/perl-install/po.cpio.bz2 | cpio -id en.po en.po/*

corrected.

Just tried another install with the DrakX stuff just put on the mirrors a

 1. Allowed to choose packages now. Thanks. I still don't fully understand
what the size slider is doing though.

hopefully the message will become more explicit... (i'm not very good at nice
messages)

The screens are so slow that I wasn't
about to try again with a different setting for it.

this is fixed. currently uploading a new version (fixing the formatting stuff,
see other mail)

 2. When it goes to install the packages, I get the following error message:
error opening RPM database: cannot open file
 /mnt/var/lib/rpm/nameindex.rpm: Invalid argument
I checked and the file is there. Couldn't progress any further with the
 install.

sorry, no clue ;-(
