I downloaded them from ftp.kde.org on the 27th and it installed in /usr/bin 
but as you said they have now been changed

Who? KDE RPMs? No. Latest ftp.kde.org PRMs for 8.x have prefix of
/opt/kde3 (I just installed them, they were changed on May 30).

(please be specific, kde3 never went into /usr/bin, only the kde3
binaries. The kde3 prefix has either been /usr or /opt/kde3).

they put kde3 in /usr/bin

[Cooker] prefix for KDE3 programs ??

Hi, 
 
 
 While trying to build some rpms from cool KDE3 
applications like  
KXICQ,KOMBA.. I found the problem, that I don't 
know where to install them,  
so I don't ovveride KDE2 versions,... so what is 
the plan for 8.2 as well as  
COOKER, which is the correct PREFIX 
 
 
by the way should't /opt/kde3/bin be in the PATH?
