Hi, I have a winbond card too and mandrake detect its incorrectly,
its hisax type 36 but the mandrake i detects another hisax type.
I edit the file /etc/isdn/profile/card/mycard and modify this line
I4L_TYPE="36" 36 is for Winbond 6696 chips
Look if this are your problem too

[Cooker] problems bootmanager and a isdn card...

2000-11-30 Thread Armisis Aieoln

Ive been trying to iron out some bugs on a friends computer with
Mandrake7.2... please advise.
here is his message to me
"Hi Dave,

Thanks.

I use BootWizard Pro 4.0 - a German product. I got it from
download.com initially. As I recall it was shareware or commercial
trail version. I paid the fee and got the full version from
PhysTechSoft.com. I am sending them an email to try to sort it out.

My ISDN card is has a WinBond chip on it and that is recognized by
Mandrake, but when I tried to connect last weekend via the ISDN card,
no joy.

The card itself is nearly generic. I got it in the Lakenheath BX
concession. The box and instructions have no company name -
analyzing the set up files indicates that the vendor name is "The
ISDN Company". The card is rated as Win95/98/2000 version - but does
not work with Win2000.

Win2000 loads up the Ethernet card, USB and the ISDN card on IRQ 9.
I have physically removed and replaced the ISDN card several times
(always in slot 5 since it is the only one accessible without
removing the power supply of the computer). The IRQ has not changed.

At first I could not get the software to load. Now I can get the
Win2K driver for the ISDN card to load, no conflict is reported, the
driver reports loaded correctly, but the driver manager says the card
is not using any resources. Thus I cannot change the IRQ. I have
the Phoenix BIOS and cannot change the IRQ at that level. I am
looking for a DOS program that will allow me to change the IRQ, but
fear that I will have to do it every time I boot up in Win2K for the
card has a different IRQ in WinME.

Under WinME, I have loaded the Win98 driver. The ISDN card sets up
with IRQ 11 as I recall. My ISDN connection will not hold for more
than 3-5 minutes and I attribute that to the fact that I do not have
a WinME driver. I have looked for a generic WinME and Win2K driver
for ISDN cards, but cannot find them. I may be missing something.
Definitely not like being able to use a Hayes modem driver.

There is much more here than I have sorted out I am sure. At the end
of last weekend I speculated that perhaps I need to use the control
panel to uninstall all the cards that are occupying IRQ 9 and bring
them back in with the ISDN card first, then the ethernet card, then
the USB. I need all three functions. Perhaps this would force them
to take separate IRQs. I am aware that IRQ 2 and 9 are linked. A
smattering of network knowledge - that this exercise is intended to
augment.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. See you Saturday."

Any ideas???

Thanx

Dave
