[Cooker] rpmdrake-sources problems
This old bug is still here, check this out: --- [rootmccarthy urpmi]# rpmdrake examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Installation CD (http1).cz] examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Contrib CD (http2).cz] retrieving description file of Installation CD (http1)... retrieving source hdlist (or synthesis) of Installation CD (http1)... --10:08:21-- http://luigiwalser.homeip.net//contrib/cooker/cooker/i586/Mandrake/base/hdlist.cz = `/var/cache/urpmi/partial/hdlist.cz' Resolving claude... done. Proxy request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK Length: 15,343,563 [text/plain] Server file no newer than local file `/var/cache/urpmi/partial/hdlist.cz' -- not retrieving. ...retrieving done examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Installation CD (http1).cz] --- The story here is luigiwalser.homeip.net is the mirror, and claude is the proxy being used. The hdlists *are* newer and it's saying they're not. Also, since we're post-9.0 now can you rename edit-urpm-source.pl to rpmdrake-sources (it was on your todo list I believe)? Another thing I'm wondering, I guess this applies to urpmi also, why do the hdlist files in /var/lib/urpmi have to be different than the ones on the mirror in Mandrake/base? That makes it rather difficult to solve some problems, including this one I'm having here in particular. How does it generate the /var/lib/urpmi hdlists out of the mirror hdlists anyway? __ Do you Yahoo!? Y! Web Hosting - Let the expert host your web site http://webhosting.yahoo.com/

[Cooker] rpmdrake-sources
When I try to start rpmdrake-sources as a non-privileged user, it first asks me for the root password and then it exits. Of course, I expected the program window to appear after I had typed in the correct password. rpmdrake works fine in this regard, but I did not try rpmdrake-remove. This is using rpmdrake-2.0-20mdk Narfi.

Yep there is a require in consolehelper: the /usr/bin/name must be the same than /usr/sbin/name. So I'm reverting back to /usr/bin/edit-urpm-sources.pl, I think it's not important enough to make a mess of symlinks only for that. -- Guillaume Cottenceau - http://people.mandrakesoft.com/~gc/
Re: [Cooker] rpmdrake-sources
David Walser [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Why not /usr/sbin/rpmdrake-sources? Any good reason to keep the other name? I think it's too late to bother with such non-important things because of programs launching it (drakconf, menus). -- Guillaume Cottenceau - http://people.mandrakesoft.com/~gc/
[Cooker] rpmdrake sources on beta2
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 I did a install from hdimage on /usr/install/ (while we're at it, why no install possible from iso9660 loopback device? would be much easier) and it went well. However after installing rpmdrake thinks CD1 is at file://mnt/hd//install/... Ofcourse, this this not work and I had to manually point it to the correct dir. Can this be fixed? Another thing in rpmdrake: when clicking the details tab on a package I see a small square (prolly indicating a missing symbol) after the dates of changes in the rpm. This is with a fresh install and standard fonts installed (no funny windows fonts) Danny - -- The last time anybody made a list of the top hundred character attributes of New Yorkers, common sense snuck in at number 79.
