[Cooker] shutdown problem with dm service

2002-08-22 Thread Goetz Waschk

Hi,

I have this problems ever since the switch to dm for X startup. The
shutdown of the system takes serveral minutes, because the gdm stays
in a restart loop for a while. The problem seems to be that the xfs
service gets killed before the dm service, that's why the restart of
gdm after the last logout doesn't succeed and repeats until the dm
service stops.

My solution was to move the kill link of dm from K90dm to K09dm,
that's one before the xfs shutdown. It wouldn't hurt anyone to change
this in the dm init script.

My configuration: X 4.2.0-23mdk initscripts-6.90-1mdk gdm-2.4.0.7-1mdk
and the NVIDIA drivers :-(

Hi.

Can you send me the output of the commands :
chkconfig --list
cat /etc/exports
cat /etc/fstab
mount

you probably automount an nfs filesystem from an nfs server somewhere IMHO.

[Cooker] shutdown problem

2002-08-09 Thread Jake r Magee

I don't think this a beta bug or anything, I was just wondering if
anyone could help me with a problem.

When I try to shutdown, the computer starts shutting down processes and
stuff but hangs at this

unmounting NFS filesystem ...something about "not registered"
umount2 : Devices or resource busy
umount : /net : device is busy

This is a regular workstation , not a server or anything. I think I
might have something running that i dont need.

If anyone is willing to help and this is not enough info, im willing to
send anything :-)

thanks

[Cooker] shutdown problem with beta4 (ZIP drive related?)

2002-03-07 Thread Goetz Waschk

Hi,

sometimes, my machine doesn't shut down, but hangs after a 'shutting
down alsa' message. Then I have to use the magic SysRq key to force
shutdown. I don't think it's an alsa problem, but something with the
ZIP drive. It's the external SCSI model, mounted by autofs. Attached
are some messages from /var/log/messages
