Hello fellow cookers -

I'm confused. In order to share the sound card with multiple
programs AND for KDE to have sound, don't the aRTs demon and the esd
demon need to be loaded? As of yesterday, aRTs didn't install by
default, and esd installed (I think, not totally sure) but is not
set up to start on boot.

In order to get aRTs to run tonight, had to start it before
I started esd? doesn't make sense.

Another sound problem - this machine is a Gateway Solo 9100
Laptop, with a Yahama sound chip. Sndconfig will configure it OK.
I then go to the KDE sound mixer - there are two tabs, one for the
OPL3-SA3 and one for Windows sound system. Makes sense, although
Mandrake 7.2 didn't do it this way.. CLOSE the mixer, open the mixer
later, there are now THREE tabs, TWO for the OPL3-SA3, the first one
saye the OPL3A is invalid, the second one works fine. Nothing was
changed in the configs in between. Weird.

Thanks for all the hard work,

        Vinny
