In my case, crashes occur randomly, when I switch PAL to SECAM channel and vice versa. 
(I have both secam 
and pal tv channels here at once). Version 3.46 only.

No ideas about SMP configurations. Anyway, see what xawtv outputs, when you start it 
from console, 
and check bttv driver output in syslog.

I had the Seg-faulting problem with the previous version as well.  I was able

file.

Also, when I have a PCI network card installed, I get sound, but no picture 
from xawtv.  I need to do more testing on this.  I suspect that it may have 
to do with SMP, similar to trouble sometimes encountered with PCI sound cards 
on dual processor machines

xawtv-3.46-1mdk, current postinstall script:

cd /.../fonts/misc
mkfontdir
... xset fp rehash
... update-menus

New fonts are installed, so xfs should be restarted  before doing xset fp rehash. 
Check that xfs is actually installed first.

And new xawtv 3.46 segfaults after a number of  tv channel switchings. This didn't 
happen with old versions.
