Anyway, see what xawtv outputs, when you start it from console, and check bttv driver output in syslog.

xawtv-3.46-1mdk, current postinstall script: cd /.../fonts/misc mkfontdir ... xset fp rehash ... update-menus New fonts are installed, so xfs should be restarted before doing xset fp rehash. Check that xfs is actually installed first. And new xawtv 3.46 segfaults after a number of tv channel switchings. This didn't happen with old versions. Ural Khassanov,
