One thing to check is in your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file.

In:-
Section "Monitor"

Check for:-
Option "dpms" "on"

isn't

Option "power_saver"

enough?

Must not be as it's in there (but it's in the device config for the
video card, not the monitor... is that right??)

I've added this and as soon as I have the chance, I will restart X
and see if it makes a difference...

I don't know. I've never met the "power_saver" option before seeing it in
the Mandrake auto generated config file. I just assume its no longer valid for
XFree86 4.

ok, i switch to "DPMS" option. I had found "power_saver" in XF3.3's doc.

FYI, the "dpms" option works... my monitor is being turned off
appropriately... =)

[Cooker] xfree not turning off monitor anymore

2000-08-07 Thread Vincent Danen

Now that I'm using XFree 4.0 (latest from cooker) it no longer powers
off my monitor anymore. I have always had it set to power off my
monitor 5 minutes after the screensaver came on and now it doesn't do
it anymore.

Does anyone else have this problem and/or know how to fix it?
