If it is just /usr then you can probably get away with just putting in
your Mandrake disc and pushing Upgrade and it should replace all the
binaries. I did this when I got hacked to bring the system back up without
deleting the hdd. Since all files come from RPM's this is a workable, if
cheating, fix. Of course if you've compiled a lot of software you may
hafta do it again. Try using ReiserFS. It won't die if your machine goes
down.
