I've been trying for awhile to get DGA working with XFree86 4.0.1
(from cooker). The X modules are loaded, and everything else works,
but this.

Xserver driver doesn't support DirectVideo on screen 0
[root@ajmitch X11]#

I'm running an i740 agp card, on 2.4.0-test6, but DGA was working with
the XFree86 4 server from Mandrake 7.1 (I'm running 6.1, btw). Also, I
had the same problems with 2.2.13, so it's not the kernel :)
As another example of what comes up, here's what happens when I try to
run Railroad Tycoon II demo from loki :
