I think/hope this is because of wrong version of your hdlists/depslists

I installed it several times without any problem..

Yes, Mesa needs Mesa-common and Mesa-common needs Mesa ; this has been
done by Fred Lepied to ease the upgrade to XF4.0

Re: Fwd: [Cooker] Auto install missing step?

2000-05-09 Thread Paul Hoepfner-Homme

When I did a hard drive install using the boot floppy for hard disk
installation, I got the same X errors described by Phil. There were
also a few problems with package installation:

- Error installing package procmail-3.13.1-6mdk - it turns out that it
isn't even in the Mandrake/RPMS/ dir of the install files. What is
this package? Do I need it? I haven't had problems using my computer
without it.

- Error installing package initscripts-4.97-33mdk - I needed to
install this manually afterwards because Linux wouldn't boot without
it--I had to go to a separate boot disk to do it, then chroot to where
Linux was installed. It wouldn't work when I tried installing it with
rpm at first, and it was telling me to run msec or something. So I
did that (set the security level to 3) even though the installation
process should have done this automatically I think, and then it
installed fine.

- Error installing packages Mesa-3.1-14mdk and
Mesa-common-devel-3.1-14mdk - I tried installing these manually
afterwards and it's a bit weird. The Mesa rpm needs Mesa-common to
install, while the Mesa-common rpm likewise needs Mesa. The same
thing went for Mesa-devel and Mesa-common-devel. I just forcefully
installed them all.

But I have otherwise gotten almost everything else working with my
installation.

Hi,

Just completed an ftp "automated" install from rpmfind.net and it didn't
ask
to make a boot disk, went directly from adding a user account to boot
loader.

Then when X tried to start after first reboot, complains of
"failed to set default font path 'unix/:-1'
fatal server error
could not open default font 'fixed;"

But there were a couple problems with packages during the
install, / is at 61% use.
