Re: [Cooker] Fw: virus in mandrake...

2000-05-12 Thread Daniel Haischt

hiya,

"DocSolomon" means Doctor Solomon and is a virus scanner
like norton anti virus etc.

i think shipping a virus infected linux distribution is a serious problem!
this shows that if we try to bring linux to the desktop (or especially to
the wincrap world), we have to deal with such problems like viruses and so
on.

finally problems which are typicall wincrap problems (i didn't say that
there
are no viruses for unix os).

i never had those problems as i start with linux in 1996 ;-)

regards

Sounds like a virus created by "DocSolomon"!

 from DocSolomon.

file D:\LNX4WIN\RM.EXE is infected by virus Burglar.1150

... I am sorry ... but this is not true (fortunately :-)
... there is no virus but windows itself and its lacking ability to
detect
viruses!

Best,

2000-05-12 Thread Tim

It isn't infected with a virus!! If you have a boot sector scanner I
wouldn't doubt that it picks up anything you install there as a virus. It
would do the same for BSD, and probably BeOS too.

I thought it was a good example of the evils of dos/windows and why you
should just stay in linux.
