Opss! I did not saw the 'L'; he, he, a far cry from an Indy!

The Challenge L is a multiprocessor machine, so I don't know if you can use
Linux. I think I saw a post some where from some SGI engineer booting Linux in
a big Challenge server, but it was just like a little experiment ...

The Challenge is basicaly an Indy without video, so I guess the Indy port would
work.

Go to:

http://oss.sgi.com/mips/

Also, Debian has a mips port:

http://www.debian.org/ports/mips/index

And then there is the mips port:

http://lena.fnet.fr/

Good luck!

I have an Indigo2 and apparently must use one of the BSDs, also a
TurboChannel+Alpha DEC (Digital 3000/400) which I can use Linux on but
must install it headless if I do.

Have you talked to SGI yet? There is an SGI Linux, based
off of Red Hat 6.0/6.1/6.2 (there may be a newer one
based on 7.0, not sure) that runs on a good portion of
their systems.

http://oss.sgi.com/

and

http://www.linux.sgi.com/

"Other machines boot - but only via serial console.
These are: Indigo2, Challenge S."

Not sure how up to date that is, the page is dated
July 2000.

I'd like to see Mandrake pick up the SGI patches and
integrate them, so that Mandrake could add YAA (Yet
Another Architecture) to their list.
