If you want to install Mandrake you need to use the Install from RH 6.0 but use the Mandrake disk. It WILL fail to install lilo. Just follow the instrutions with the beta driver. When you boot up for the second time remove all the Madrake Kernel RPMS with the --nodeps option. Then install the Kernels from the RH 6.0 CD. THEN run the script in your root directory. This will get you system up and running after this you can d/l the newest Kernel from kernel.org 2.2.12 and apply the EIDE/66 patches etc etc... If you have no idea what I'm talking about it's becasue you didn't READ the instructions closely for the beta drivers... (I just did this last weekend). If you need anymore help...let me know... :) Bryan

Lots of improvements by appearances, including my own VIA updates :) Jeff

For example Sis620 does have support for this feature. PS: upgrade to 2.3.18 or above (NOT 2.3.22) because there were a LOT of optimizations in hard disk acces; ie : boot sequence is 2 or 3 times faster, launching X11 is 2 - 3 times faster too.

You won't get the full benefit of the controllers in compatibility mode, generally. Jeff

Thanks, Edmond I don't think so...just use the patch kernel for 2.2.12 and recompile back the kernel..as I'm using it now with my Abit Hot Rod 66 (HPT366 chipset) I don't know about the Promise card. I works fine. You can also use the development kernel 2.3.13 onwards but these kernels are not stable so use it carefully.
