Actually, how difficult would it be to hack up a version of DrakX which,
instead of installing binary RPMs, rebuilds SRPMS?

maybe the main pb would be to bootstrap the building process and handle
errors...

If you are in a rush, why not use a gui like gcombust? Most of the time
the defaults are enough to get you going, then you can just add the SRPM
directory and burn.

Well, but then those CDs aren't bootable. And mkcd isn't all that hard
to use - if you just want to create binary (ie. not SRPMS) cds. Or it
may be easy for SRPMS as well, I just haven't tried it.

Anyhow, attached is the script I use for building Cooker CDs from a
Cooker mirror - without src.rpms.

If you are in such a hurry, I'd use mkcd to build the binary rpm cds and
mkisofs for the source discs.

Hm, it would get *quite* messy, I think, because a src.rpm most often
not only contains the .tar.bz2 file + .spec file for rpm, but very often
also patches, addons and such. This would mean, that you'd get a
gazillion of directories.

Why .src.rpm's have the software and the patches in them anyway?

Well, the simpliest for sources rpm is to just build iso with mkisofs. There
are no particular needs regarding their repartition or such. Just separe
them in 650 MB (or whatever your CD size is) and make ISO (mkisofs -r -J
-o srpm1.iso /PATH/SRPMS1).

Alternatives are, first, use the auto mode of mkcd with the sources option:

mkcd -a -s --noisolinux /cooker /contrib/RPMS /cooker/SRPMS /contrib/SRPMS

or something like that, and you will get CDs with sources included
(the present sources mode separate each CDs half with RPMS, half with
SRPMS, I will had a switch to put SRPMS in separate disk, it is quite
easy to implement).

And second, create your own config file (use examples in the misc/doc
dir on CDs).
