Ok I went ahead and did nodep on the 2.4.1-8 kernel it installed and boots ok.. I have some problems now. I am trying to configure my vmware with the new kernel but the header files are for uniprocessor and I am running the smp kernel. How do I get the smp headers??? Ray

I think this is a mistake.
