usual meaning is to be tired of something. Hence "tanné de t'entendre
pleurer", I'm tired of hearing you cry...

Where it comes from, I'm not sure. Probably some trappers from way back when
have something to do with this...

Hmm... if you expose your body (i.e. skin) to UV rays it tends
to change the color (ideally to brown...) - that's a tan. :)

 No, you where right. Dropping the "sun" and just using the "tan" portion is
 slang.
 
 The word "tan" (verb) has multiple meanings. The other meaning is to convert
 animal hide into leather.
