It is designed to allow Netscape users to fix MP3 files that were retrieved from improperly set servers. Of course this is not limited to MP3 files. Actually, these problems mainly come from binary files downloaded in ASCII mode (e.g. when a server sends binary information as text it inserts linefeeds at semi-regular intervals). With uxcook you will avoid re-doing the download. -- Guillaume Cottenceau

Older versions of easyCD need a patch (i think it's the latest "upgrade" on adaptec's website). They originally didn't have .iso support built in, the free patch adds it. Also remember to check to make sure "disc at once" is picked from the advanced tab before starting your burn. -dwild

I used a piece of junk called Gozilla on an NT machine at work, and suspect it may be the cause. In the past, I've used IE5 with no problem, but haven't successfully downloaded the iso on recent attempts. Last night I used an ftp program on a windows 98 machine at home, downloaded the 7.1 tree, and did a hdinstall (upgrade). All went well. I did have to reinstall Helixcode, however.
Re: [Cooker] EasyCD and 7.1ist.iso failure
Marc If you are using EZ CD 4.0 you should install the patch from Adaptec. the current version is 4.02 What method did you use to download the ISO. Netscape, IE5, FTP program, because that is probably where your problem lies. I know Netscape has a rep of downloading ISOs from FTPs in an unusable format. I have used IE5, GetRight, and PowerDesk to download ISOs burned with EZ CD and have had no problem. Re: [Cooker] EasyCD and 7.1ist.iso failure
I downloaded with Win98 from ftp.sunet.com and windows added an extra .iso to the end of the file (inst.iso.iso) - don't know if that made a difference, I just renamed it and burned it without any problems. Good luck, Mike > Anyone having a problem getting easy cd to use the 7.1 inst.iso? I've > downloaded twice from differnet mirrrors and can't get Easy CD to open > either download.
