Actually, I was able to finally get the java 1.4.0 plugin to work with mozilla 1.0rc2 . I'm using the 8.2 builds from http://ranger.dnsalias.com/mandrake/mandrake8.2/mozilla/ and was getting constant crashes whenever I would go to a page that had java. Apparently, all you have to do is to create a symlink from /your-java-runtime/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_ojixxx.so to /your-mozilla-dir/plugins and it will work. The NS610 plugin does NOT work, but the NS600 plugin does. It needs to be a symlink, I think, because that is how Mozilla tells where the java runtime is. I hope this helps. It's worked for both the rpm above and the standard mozilla install build from mozilla.org.
