He, he, no. startx will usually run "X" which usually
is a link to "Xwrapper" or the X server for your card.

My question was, what is the official way to call the
X server ("XFree86" for XF4) in XF4. The current
packages have a link from "/usr/X11R6/bin/X --
/usr/X11R6/bin/Xwrapper", and I made a link from
/etc/X11/X -- /usr/X11R6/bin/X", but that does not
work, since running Xwrapper does nothing.

 Are you sure your font server is running ?

"/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs restart" did not work, but
"/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs stop  start" worked!
