More info:
This happens with expert install and it doesn't matter what packages I even 
tried a min install with 153 MB with same results.

did you resize your ext2 partition ??

No I left the partitions the same as they were. I can install 7.1 just fine 
still with same partitions. There is one drive that I left unpartitioned.
