in fact, i've switched to sound-slot-0 instead of sound, maybe it will be
better? (have not checked the initscripts yet)

No don't remove it from the pcitable. Just move the startup script.
I had this problem on my Dell Inspiron 7500. The startup script is towards the
beginning of the startup process. When you rebooted the machine the Maestro
would hang. But if you did a cold boot it worked fine. I renamed the sound
startup script to S99sound and it works fine. :)

It seems to me as if one of your cards doesn't like all the probing and
misbehaves on a reboot.
This is probably due to that the notebook doesn't do a full 'reset' on all
the buses on reboot.
This has been known to happen to some machines on reboot.

1) After an install or upgrade (with hd.img) it reboot, mount disks... and if
I had forget switching off, it freeze in boot when touch soundcard, not
random but all times in this context... (I'm paranoid and after that I
manually do a check of every partitions not on ro ntfs...;o).

2) When I do a shutdown -r now and return in lnx or I reboot from w2k and
return in lnx without switch off, all works OK.

=) Is probing procedure that left hw in abnormal state ??? Also w2k in
install do probing and than reboot but without problem. (When start w2k reset
reset reset... and reinitialize all hw).
