Adaptec apparently is of the opinion that linux does not form a significant
portion of their market. This is typical behavior and is why most Adaptec
controllers have to be reverse engineered if supported at all.

All I can say is that my SCSI and SCSI RAID controllers are Advansys or other
brands, never Adaptec and for the same reason.

Well I am going to EMail Adaptec now, I think everyone else should as well,
I don't think they really know how
many linux users there are.

Personally, I beleive a boycott is in order. When Diamond released their
first cards with only windows drivers back in 93 or so, then refused to
release the specs to the public, everyone I knew at the time (including
myself) refused to buy any Diamond products, and suggested that their
friends/family do the same. Diamond video cards went away for
awhileand when the newer models were released the company was much
more open about releasing specs to developers. Granted it may be a bit
harder these days with the market flooded with a proprietary OS but it's
definately worth a shot.
