yes please :)

 Problems during clean install

 1. During setup, would not accept password less than 10 characters. A
warning instead of a refusal would be nice. Due to 'paranoid' security

Yes it's due to your selection. (i asked the same thing) ;)

 2. Could not adduser. Went directly directly from previous screen/option
to an error, something like 'unacceptable something in array'. I'll redo
it and write the error message down next time.

 3. Video setup detected my G400 32meg fine and showed the screen with
the 'Is this working?' buttons and timer, but would not startx later.
Tried XFdrak, selected 800 w/16 and 32bits. Got screen with X cursor but
hung with error "xlib: invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key".

Were you root?

 4. Using mc, on each exit message is "rm: remove
 '/root/.mc~/tmp/mc-410'?" or some other number.

A) make sure you have a ~/tmp
B) strace -o ~/mc.out mc , and send me the ~/mc.out

 5. At login, I could not login as root. Because of the adduser problem I
used single mode, added a user, even changed root password, but still
had to su root to get root. As user I was very limited in what files I
could do, much more so than with 6.1. Part of 'paranoid' security level
 from setup?

Yep, no root login in the high security levels

Don't use it...
DRI / DRM usage with XFree 3.9 is intended for hacker only...
At the moment you will have some speed loss over a simple dev3dfx usage...
( This is what i've experimented ) and the X 3.9 isn't enough stable
for certain kind of usage...

You can already use your voodoo 1/2/3 with glide and dev3dfx
( information on http://linux.3dfx.com )

 Security level low.

Huu,
i've already seen this bug sitting somewhere,
have u done an install or upgrade ?

It is well known that M$ products don't call free() after a malloc().
The Unix community wish them good luck for their future developments.

Yes I'm aware of thw whole 3dfx situation I was using the dri very happily over
Mandrake 6.1. But maybe I will have to goo back to the old 3dfx drivers.

Thanks
