Just another note: when I log in, in the gnome splash screen, I see a ton of 'feet' after the usual panel, metaticity, etc icons. I think there is a foot per applet that Gnome launches, but before latest gnome that was not happening. It looks like gnome-session launches applets as standard login apps, instead of being the panel who loads them (just a blind guess... if it gives any clue) TIA -- J.A.
