I agree that it shouldn't appear twice (install and then firsttime 
wizard) Draknet has never, never configured my cable modem connection 
properly.  So I wasn't sure it it did it because the install configure 
didn't work or it would have done it anyway.  In the 2nd case it makes 
it look like install doesn't know what it is doing so looks 
unprofessional.  If it was the 1st case, it should say the install 
config didn't work and would you like to try again.
I went through it several times ways hoping that it might do it this 
time, but I am back to my ifcfg-eth0 script that I wrote again.

Any chance /etc/sysconfig/apmd CHANGEVT could default to 0?

It seems to help alot on the resumes at least on thinkpads.

Other than that that this looks like a winner so far.

8.0 is gone off my laptop...

(I still get the occasional message about CPU overload
  from the sound server from resume...)

You shouldn't be using 24 or 32 bit colour depths on a laptop, it's just
slowing down rendering time, as your LCD does not support that many colours.

Just a suggestion ;)... but i guess you could be using an external monitor..
