this is about my 20th cooker install.  I like to repartition my drives all
the time, don't ask me why.  And, since so much development is going into
DrakX, i like testing that too to see if there are any problems.

hdlists and hdlist.cz2 are both there, the installer is just not seeing it
for me.  i do use fmirror.

right now i'm regetting the entire mirror, then i'm going to try it again.

One other thing is to make sure that timefuzz isn't used. It will mess

If i go through the setup, and skip the partition format (i.e. i select
mount points but then tell it not to format) it installs fine.

So it seems the ftp connect to my server is timing out during the partition
format.

Please switch to console 2 (using ctrl-alt-f2) and look at the log file /tmp/ddebug.log
Also look at consoles 1,3,4,7";

could you follow this advice and tell what's there?

In fact the install went fine.

Here's some more information, since i think it has to do with finding the
packages.

I do an ftp install to an ftp server i have running on my mandrake 6.1
firewall at 192.168.1.1
i log in as a user, not as anonymous.
I had a ddebug.log but it did not copy correctly.  if i can get it to crash
again, i'll send you the log.

Ok.  I got the error again.  I think what is happening is the ftp connection
to the server is timing out during my file selection, so when it goes to
copy the files, the ftp connection is no longer there.  maybe you can force
a reconnect of the ftp connection before the rpm install starts.

 a reconnect of the ftp connection before the rpm install starts.

i've done better, each time a "bad file" occurs, it restart the connection and
retry...

it works quite nicely here 
(managed to install with a "while" killing the ftpd :)

well, not quite that nice, zoneinfo are missing and maybe worse. But anyway, it
works much better
