I can confirm that cdrecord works fine.  When I perform the above
command it works fine.

cdrecord has perhaps a new output format, that could explain why xcdroast and k3b fail 
to scan bus.
You should check cdrecord changelog to find if some changes like this were done 
recently.

Noticed the same. As a workaround, Robert, you might want to try
simplecdrx - that's what I'm using now and it's pretty decent, nice
simple layout.

No. cdrecord and cdrdao both work fine, currently.

xcdroaast and k3b are only frontends to cdrecord, does "cdrecord -scanbus" fail ?
