Re: [Cooker] Eclipse 2.1 hangs ... ?

Moreover I decided to do an install with a 'higher' ('standart' 'High' 'Higher' 'Paranoid') security Level. The install went OK but know I seem to have lost a fair-bit of steering power. Yes, security always sacrifices ease-of-use. If I try to start LinuxConf from a normal user terminal where I su'ed, it cannot connect to the X-client. So I did a 'xhost +127.0.0.1' with a 'xhost +192.168.1.105' (my IP) as root or as the user... I keep getting : [EMAIL PROTECTED] /]# Error message from remadmin : Error message from remadmin :Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0 What else do I need to do ... ? This is a generic X error, but has nothing to do with your eclipse problem. Please, try the other lists Mandrake provides, expert and newbie may be appropriate. Regards, Buchan P.S. Ainsi parlait [EMAIL PROTECTED] : Surprised i see no-one else about this, but RH provides a src.rpm for the eclipse IDE build with gcj. I think we can put it in contribs (or main?) as well? Someone feels up to it? Maybe not what you want exactly, but David Walluck created mdk eclipse packages in jpackage, which should be included in boxed 9.2 edition. Anyway, they are available on jpackage web site, see www.jpackage.org -- Guillaume Rousse Uniforms only come in two sizes, too small and too large -- Murphy's Military Laws n°105

Are you sure eclipse will run with kaffe, even if it lacks any swing/awt support ? AFAIK, swing/awt support don't matter, only swt ... but I have my doubts about it running under kaffe. I'm not sure if the patches it needs for gcj are too big or not, and since I'm not a programmer I'm not sure if I can manage, but I'm willing to check it out. It seems there's no oprofile in cooker, which is listed as a buildrequires. Building that now. -- Marcel Pol
