True, it is not so hard. For me it is just a wish, and I know
newbies would be happy that it would be so. I am just trying to make
MDK the most newbie and user friendly distro available:-)

In my experience, setting dhcp as default causes more complaints about
my computer takes forever to boot up.  I like it set at static
personally.

I agree.  I thought it was very intuitive that DHCP is not added as a
default package but only when the network is being set up -- it is then
installed as one of the needed packages.
