The only major pkg difference on my 3 systems is kde3.
I singled out nsplugins only because on the 2 systems without kde3 AR, RP8, and Flash
all work in mozilla and galeon, on this system with k3 none work.
Have rebuilt galeon from src.rpm on this system.
Noted plugins still do not work But the app can no longer be made to crash.
Cursor operate correctly in address bar But not for web page fill-ins.

Tried rebuilding mozilla but after about 5 hrs with asst. warning messages it crapped
out on me

make[1]: `Linux_All_OPT.OBJ/jsautocfg.h' is up to date.
make[1]: `Linux_All_OPT.OBJ/jscpucfg' is up to date.
make[1]: `Linux_All_OPT.OBJ/jscpucfg.o' is up to date.
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `Linux_All_OPT.OBJ/jsmathtemp.o'.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/RPM/BUILD/mozilla/js/src'
+ gcc -shared -fPIC -o libc++mem.so libc++mem.c
libc++mem.c: In function `__builtin_vec_new':
libc++mem.c:8: parse error before '}' token
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.39232 (%build)

Still would like to know why the performance in mozilla and galeon is different on
some systems.
But this is cooker and everything is not supposed to 'work right' all the time.

What is wrong with their length.
Same as they have always been-standard 72

The cursor problem must be caused by the way Mandrake builds Mozilla,
because in the official mozilla.org Mozilla 1.0rc2 tar ball, the cursor
problem doesn't exist.

I forgot to say Mozilla is my browser of choice, I don't usually use
Galeon but I loaded it and that particular bad url made it crash.

I see the same 'edit box cursor not following type' problem but Galeon does not crash
on bad url. No kde3 installed

I don't have any version of kde, I have the cursor problem in mozilla,
and galeon doesn't crash on ww.linuxtoday.com...

Yes, but does galeon crash if you enter a bad url such as ww.linuxtoday.com

cursor would not follow my typing in a text box for a reply at the

Only kde3 is installed. However - how could kdebase3-nsplugins have
anything at all todo with this?

Yea, I knew that from your earlier post on galeon.

I am running cooker on 3 systems with slightly varied hardware and cpu and with some
variance in the pkgs installed.

On 2 of these systems I have no problem with either galeon or mozilla. On the third
system I can dup all the problems previously noted with both browsers.

I think I may have accidentally stumbled upon the cause, but at the moment I am still
just guessing.
The system which exhibits the problems is the Only 1 of the 3 on which I have
installed kde3.
Could the current builds of mozilla and galeon be afflicted by an inability to handle
finding both kdebase-nsplugins and kdebase3-nsplugins or 1 of the other libs which do
not exist on a system to which kde3 is not installed?

As I said, I am just guessing.
It would be of interest if both those who are having the problem and those who are not
would note if they have kde3 installed.

It works fine for me.

And the only problem I have with galeon is that sound and video in Realplayer8 is
jerky but it performs flawless in mozilla.

RE: [Cooker] mozilla - editing URL in location bar impossible?

2002-05-19 Thread Robert Zilbauer

The new Mozilla is doing something similar to me, too. I can still edit the
text in the bar, but the cursor never changes location. So, even though the
cursor isn't keeping pace with where I'm actually typing (and, in fact, isn't
moving from the far left side of the bar at all), I can still edit things.

I've found it's not only the location bar either. The filename input dialog
box (e.g., Save As...) does the same thing.

Anybody else has this problem? I cannot edit anything in location bar in
current mozilla. I can only delete everything. And galeon completely
stops working (either it tries to access proxy and segfaults or it
completely ignores proxy settings and cannot connect anyway).

Hmm ... it does not actually looks like location bar anymore ... is it
now "search bar"?
