just installing bootsplash packages just does the trick, it may not
have been installed because your video card is listed as dangerous in
framebuffer mode, as a consequence to have it you need to add a
graphic mode in the lilo/grub config, to do that, add the line vga=791
in the append line in lilo, then rebuild your initrd, then rerun lilo.

Drakboot does not handled bootsplash yet because it was included a
bit late in the development process.

You can also install bootsplash-themes from contrib to have another
them, or simply create your own one.

At least the last version of SuSE I used (7.1 with a 7.2-era kernel), it
worked much like Mandrake's new boot screen - text in a window. Only SuSE
didn't format the output nicely like MDK does, nor did it have a nice
progress bar.

Hm, I never like Aurora. It was hiding way too much information. But
when I boot a 8.2 machine, I see some graphics, ie. the boot messages
are in a nice "window". That's very good.

Thanks god! Another reason to not use SuSE ;)

installing the package is all that it takes.

Install linux_logo off the third (contributions) cd. Once this is installed the
virtual terminal penguin will come back (yippie!).

I think it's a little sad that it's not by defulat any more but that's the way things
go.

I think, I will be important to have it on a linux-station !
We have got it with Redmonlinux, SuSE, Demolinux... but not with
