My xscreensaver is 4.14-3mdk. What 9.2 rpm are you asking about? Cooker
10.0 is just some new version apps on top of Mandrake 9.2 right now.

What xscreensaver, KDE and Gnome versions do you have?

I noticed that my system used to be very slow. I used top-command and
noticed that I had multible solarwinds processes running and they were
 eating all of my resouces.
I am using newest uptodate cooker with gnone with XScreensaver enabled and
 I have selected solarwinds gl-module.
Because I was using my system, the xscreensaver were stopped and therefore
I think that all solarwind processes should also have been killed, which
 was however not the case.

I rebooted the my computer just for safe and was able to reproduce the
 problem very easily.

 1) Boot to gnome
 2) Enable XScreensaver and select solarwinds
 3) Let the screensaver start and run for a while
 4) Activate computer so that xsreensaver deactivates
 5) Use top and notice solarwinds processes

 My system is following:
 Mandrake cooker,
 kernel-2.4.21.pre2.1mdk-1-1mdk (acpi off)
 xscreensaver-4.06-3mdk
rss_glx-0.7.0-1mdk (from contribs, I think that that includes
 solarwinds module)

 AMD K6-3 400 mhz
 Nvidia TNT2

I am not sure whether I should create a bug from this because the problem
may as well be in the contrib-package than in the xcreensaver itself...

I think the problem is in rss_glx, since default GNOME Mdk screensaver use
chbg with xscreensaver without any problem..

And btw, could you refrain from posting in HTML ? Thanks :)

Latest Cooker install . . .

I seem to remember this problem has been around for a while . . .

There is a large list of xscreensavers available, but certain ones
simply don't exist (at least on the default install) - so why
are they
on the list?

And example is engine - it says no preview when selected,
and when
you click on preview the following error occurs:

xscreensaver: 14:51:46: could not execute engine: No such file or

Current directory is: /home/rfox

Install xscreensaver-gl.

I miss that one, too. I don't remember seeing it since 7.x or even 6.x.

 That's a really nice screensaver.

and now, xscreensavers is compiled with kerberos support..

I'm having the same problems on two machines here, but both are
running the beta-3 edition -- I did an update of xscreensaver on
one machine, but still get these missing screensavers.

 Hi!

None of the 3D screensavers from xscreensaver-gl-3.31-1mdk seem to work.
I've got the nvidia drivers installed and running. tuxracer and chromium
 work fine.
But, when I try to run one of the 3D screensavers, like Sierpinski3D, Gears
or whatever, I get this error message:

root window's visual 0x30 does not support the GLX extension

Why is that? xdpyinfo tells me that GLX is working (else tuxracer and
 chromium wouldn't run...).

Further quite some of the enabled GLX screensavers are missing. These are:

 - DangerBall
 - Molecule
 - GLText
 - StarWars
 - StonerView
 - GFlux
 - extrusion
 - Lament
 - Stairs
 - Moebius
 - Cage

The following non-GLX screensavers are enabled but cannot be found:

 - WhirlWindWarp
 - RotZoomer
 - Zoom
 - XRaySwarm
 - XMatrix
 - XJack
 - Hyperball

Also WebCollage (whacked) cannot be run, because it needs djpeg which I
don't have installed - if this is my fault, than djpeg needs to be added to
the Requires:. djpeg is in the pacakge »libjpeg-progs«. Also I do not
think it's a good idea to have WebCollage enabled at all. Some people pay
by the minute to get onto the net - they won't be amused to find that a
 screensaver is costing them money.

 Hello,
mine xscreensaver-3.28-1mdk doesn't work because he tries to find
binaries at /usr/bin/../lib/xscreensaver. The right path should be
 /usr/bin/../X11R6/lib/xscreensaver.

So I made corrected xscreensaver-3.28-2mdk.src.rpm and uploaded it
 into ftp.linux-mandrake.com/incoming.

I know why because it must have been the %configure macro which I used
the last version which I built. Point noted ..

Did I make it right? Or what's the right way?

   Regards
   Michal
