Re: [ppc 9500] XFree and fbdev

2002-07-10 Thread Yvon Thoraval

Is this an upgrade from 8.0? Because that looks like XFree86 3 stuff
rather than 4.

no this is a starting point install of mandrake-cooker ppc. The XFree
version being installed is 4.2

After many reinstallations I got it. XFree 4.2.0 is running on my

instead of Right-ALT+L but I can live with this. But was anybody able
to compile a stable xine (last one was 0.9.11) or mplayer (last one was
0.9.0-pre5) version without any incorrect video output and crashes while
watching (system hangs)? My Mac has still the installed ATI Rage 128
 (PF).

By the way: Since XFree 4.2.0 installed the X Server does not want to
start up if the Soundblaster 128 PCI or 5.1 (PC version) is installed.
On XFree 4.1.0 this was no problem. Removing this sound cards helps.
Does anybody know why or have I to email the XFree group for this kind
 of problem? Any ideas?

Probably interrupt conflicts. You can try rearranging the cards in the
slots. Don't know how you manually assign interrupts on a Mac.

Generally fails at the last step in %files. Sounds like somthing wrong
with your build environment,

I tried to install the binaries but ld-linux.so.2 (from glibc)
 dependence is not satisfied.

Latest glibc should be providing that now, no?

So: Has anyone got the gcc binaries rpm for the 8.2 ppc ?

stupid printing problem w/KDE CUPS

2002-07-10 Thread Isaac

hello,

anybody heard of this one?

when printing from KDE apps, the document prints all the way to the very
bottom of the page. then on the next page, it starts at the very top, with a
bit of overlap from the bottom of the previous page (nothing is missing, but
it's annoying to have to decipher where the overlap is).

this is consistently a problem in kmail, konqueror, korganizer, kword, etc.,
and consistent across at least the two different printers I've tried (an
epson inkjet via USB and an HP laser running with lprng on a separate box on
the LAN).

problem is the same with KDE 2.x and 3.0

thanks for any tips... i don't even know where to start looking for this one.
