../.. > > PS : I never succeed to install cooker. > > Can you give more details on the cooker issues? > > Stew Benedict After my differents try with Mdk 8.0, i only tried net-boot and install-net-text of cooker (12-13 january version from ftp.free.fr) During packages install i had "error installing somepackagename-somereleasenumber.ppc.rpm" (like Ryan Boder), on 7-8 packages. I only remember XFree86-4.1.0-22mdk.ppc.rpm package. After packages install i fell in tftp time-out (loop message), so the only choice was to power on/off. I tried to boot anyway (via OF) but "linux" and "failsafe" hang. So i reinstall 8.0 version (like described in previous mail). (during 8.0 install i choosed french language, it was ok, but once installed, it was a mix english/finish). Olivier.
Re: Mandrake 8 on PowerBook G4
My experience was the same as Olivier's (2001 Powerbook G4, 667Mhz, Radeon). I did successfully install from the CD (both CDs) by finding my way through the graphical install on a severly distorted screen. --After you go through the install process 30 or 40 times, you can figure out what they are asking for. : ) Have not yet tried the BenH kernel. Was wondering if anyone with Radeon has tried the Radeon-SMP Support kernel at: http://www.ppckernel.org/kernel.php?id=12 (I have not yet). Was hoping that between finding a kernel that supported Radeon and getting the new version of XFree86 I could get video working properly. If anyone has been able to accomplish this, with one of the new Radeon Powerbooks, I'd appreciate hearing the steps. Thanks! Newer G4's are shipping with the ATI Radeon video card. At current the Radeon isn't supported very well.
