This may be of interest:
I generally run everything at the highest resolution possible, to get
more
stuff on the screen at once. The other day I was collecting some
screenshots for Phil in MacOS, and backed down the resolution on the iMac
to 800x600, and left it that way when I shut down. Today when I went ot
do an install, the graphical install had the weird half-overlap effect
some folks have described. It was usable, until I got to partitioning,
and then I got too worried trying to select my /boot that I was indeed
getting the right partition. I tried various video= options, with no
improvement, before I remembered making that change in MacOS a couple of
days ago. I went back to MacOS and put it back to 1024x768, rebooted
into
the installer and things were fine again.

Did someone try to switch fbmode with fbset directly in VT7 without
restarting X ? I did with XPmac, and if I remember, the screen is then
very strange.
