Jan, for the record, is that apple cider or white vinegar?
I am inclined to think it is white vinegar.

Thank you. I realy felt this was a egitimate question because it is
involved in making your kitchen safe for people to eat or drink things that
you make. A market list is not for cooking and cleaning questions. I will
do that.

Yes, 1/2 cup vinegar and 1/2 cup water. And then rinse with a few
 cycles
 of
 clear water.

Wow! Boy if I need to know about a coffee maker I know who to call,
LOL. Thank you. I just forgot the name.
I have to clean mine I think by running vinegar water through it, is that
the correct way to sanitize it? It has been sitting on my counter and I
have not used it for a year or more because I simply let my own pleasures
 go

 for George's needs.
Now this fall and winter when it gets cool I can get absorbed in a cup
of coffee with only a little creamer for different flavors. I know
 too much of

Lora has a one mug, which was sold at CVS. She got it as a birthday
present. I didn't give it to her, but I gave the person who gave it
to her the information about it. They no longer make them, but the
 ones they do make
 are:
 1. The brew n go by black and decker, DCM18S

 2. Hamilton Beach three in one hot beverage center, model 42115

 3. the scoop coffee maker by Hamilton Beach

I'm not sure what stores you can get them in. I have all of them and
I bought them all online. You can get them through amazon.

I agree. I have a coffee maker that you just measure out the coffee,
pour the cup of water into it and put your mog underneath it. Then
press the button and in a couple minutes out comes the coffee. It is
easy and simple.

My suggestion would be, if you want a single serving coffee maker,
to get one that does not use k-cups or pods. Black and Decker makes
them and so does Hamilton Beach. Yes, you have to measure the
coffee, but you don't have to worry about programming because they
all have buttons and are not digital.

because it doesn't speak the setting to us.The other issue is that
 ours
seems to change its mind about settings without any reason that I
can understand, even if a sighted person has set it properly. In

don't use the maker unless I am desperate. Does anyone have

Re: [CnD] Trying Again! A Lettuce Question

2012-07-24 Thread Mary Ann Marchand
I find an ordinary plastic bag does not work unless you make some holes in
it. If you look at celery or lettuce bags that these vegetables come in from
the store, they the bags have holes.

See! That is precisely! What I was doing, first in the paper toweling,
then

in the plastic bag, and no matter how fast I tried eating it, within a
matter of days, it was starting to feel wilted and the bottom of the
plastic

bag had moisture/liquid in it, and slimey feeling lettuce. The one thing I
did and failed to mention here is also kept the plastic the lettuce came
in

with the holes, put the paper towels in there, then into a plastic grocery
bag.

Actually, I wrap a head of letece in paper towels and then slip it into a
plastic grocery bag. This seems to work pretty well for me, but, of
course,

there is always the question of whether there are dark spots later. I
don't

care as long as it feels fine, but it becomes an issue if I want to serve
it

to company.

I think your problem is with the plastic bag. Just wrap in paper
towel and check everything so if the towel needs changing if
something spills on it in the refrigerator you'll know it.

I did that, Katie, and we even looked right by the produce, all to no avail,
and when we asked a person, they said not by the produce, directed us to
where the storage bags are, and nothing, so am checking different stores
around here; I know QVC carries them, but want to search locally,, if
possible; wonder if they come in different sizes; also wonder if Tupperware
has that lettuce storage container.

Sandy, here on post at the commisary those bags are found over by the
produce area. Just ask some one that works at the store you shop at and
they can show you or tell you if they even carry them. I have never bought
them, but, know that is where they are usually always found. You can't be
shy, just ask for help from someone that works there. They will help you
out.Katie

Hi, Sandy,

I'm not sure where the Green Bags are located in the store. They are
good for all kinds of fresh produce. Put it in the bags dry and it
will keep for quite a while.

Sorry I don't have more information.

Blessings,
