Re: [CnD] electric carving knife questions
More power to those using an electric knife. I'm horrified at the idea myself/weak smile. I if I'm not careful occasionally get into enough trouble with regular knives let alone an electric one! I know it's probably a matter of confidence, but have no desire to try it. -Original Message- From: Jill O'Connell via Cookinginthedark Sent: Wednesday, July 22, 2015 1:54 PM To: cookinginthedark@acbradio.org ; Kerry Friddell Subject: Re: [CnD] electric carving knife questions Years ago we used to have a meat slicer that was not electric but I considered it much safer to use by a blind person. Although I do have an electric meat slicer, I'm thinking this might be quicker for slicing hams and other boneless pieces of meat, possibly. I would like to hear from any totally blind people who have used one. Questions: Do they have an adjustable guide for slicing at desired thicknesses? 2. If so, what are the thicknesses? 3. What features should I look for? 4. Any particular brands, and, if so, why or why not? Thanks in advance. --- Be positive! Re: [CnD] Frying chicken and potatoes.
I agree with you on that, plus you won't get all that grease when you fry the chicken versus in the oven we use shake and bake a lot but I will like to know about the potatoes more if you can give me away how to do that when I had site I used to do the potatoes like that but forgot how to do them Plus I would like to stay away from cooking stuff in the oven due to trying to save on electricity! [CnD] Frying chicken and potatoes.
Hi, Louise. I think it is difficult for a person who is blind to turn potatoes in hot oil, chicken, maybe less so. I would suggest cooking in the oven, seasoning and roasting the potatoes tossed with some oil, and the same for the chicken; breading it as you would to fry and baking at 375 degrees. Hope this helps. [CnD] Recipe: chicken spaghetti with cream of mushroom.
Hi, Will, You could use canned chicken broth, cook the breasts in that, dice them, and proceed with the recipe; it should turn out fine. Hope this helps.
