I use a Braille sheet I can roll into the Braille writer for labelling and simply cut things apart with scissors and make sure to have sighted help when placing the labels. Thanks for the tip on the rubbing alcohol. *smile* Regina Marie -Original Message- From: Nancy VanderBrink via Cookinginthedark [mailto:cookinginthedark@acbradio.org] Sent: Wednesday, July 06, 2016 11:01 AM To: cookinginthedark@acbradio.org Cc: Nancy VanderBrink Subject: Re: [CnD] Talking Microwave If you are concerned with how to mark the microwave, I found that on mine if I put a space between the different numbers on a row I could do 12 and three on one strip and not have to figure out how to place them exactly. It also helped if I had a sighted person around and if they New which direction was up, they could put it in the correct location. I would suggest that before you place the Dino tape pieces onto the microwave, use some rubbing alcohol to make sure that the tape will stick continuously. Also, something else you could consider that I did not take the time to look into, so manufacturers of microwaves make overlays that have brill already on them that you can order from the company and attach yourself. I don't know what it is or how it works or even which companies make them, I heard somewhere from someone that it was something to look into. Sorry I cannot answer more about that. Re: [CnD] Talking Microwave
Hi neighbor. When you can get any substance off the display, like oil from your skin or left overs from tape that was previously used to mark spots on the display, the adhesive on the dymo tape seems to be sticky enough. Kids playing with or using the microwave can loosen the labels. This is kind of a side, but several years ago, mid 80s, the NFB convention was at the Palmer house. About a month later I went to the Palmer house to attend an IBM conference. During the NFB convention the labels held up well. When I returned to the Palmer house, practically all the labels had been torn off.
